- WELCOME -
Where everything started out of friendship, passion, dreams and fun.
We bring you AWESOME BANDS, varied free-time activities, an idyllic camping site, between the walls of the mighty fortified church, and of course the exciting and carefree ambiance of a great time spent surrounded by beautiful people.
You're invited to bring your friends, your family, your goat, and anyone else you'de like to share this amazing experience with. Our festival is very kid-friendly, the venue is not too far away from the "Big City", but far enough to leave your stress behind for the weekend, and enjoy the sunshine.
25 - 27 august... BE THERE!
BROUGHT TO YOU BY:
The Austrian funk rap band Schmafu takes up classic elements of the country’s charm to create a new and progressive “Austro-Pop” style, without falling back on old-fashioned clichés of the past 20 years of Austria’s pop history. Combining it with elements of hip-hop, funk and r’n’b, the five Vienna-based musicians have discovered their own unique style, which fits perfectly in the contemporary urban scene of the city. In June 2017, the band released their first official EP, called „…und am Sonntag”, which you can download or stream HERE.
It only took one year for Suburbia11 to get from their first show in the small town of Sibiu, Transylvania to the Sziget Festival stage where they are scheduled to perform this summer. The boys combine guitar, bass, trumpet, trombone, melodica, drums and vocals into an energy shot of Ska, Reggae, Punk and Rap. Due to their catchy balkan sound they easily took the stage at some of last summer’s festivals, in the band’s first year of existence: Focus Festival, #holzstockfestival , Interferences Theatre Festival, Street Food Festival and many solo events.
Sonic explorers, The Kryptonite Sparks are part of the new wave of Romanian rock (post 2010); an incandescent power-trio, an eclectic mixture of hard rock, indie, alternative, funk, avant-prog and pop-rock resembling the likes of Cream, Arctic Monkeys, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd.
With good vibes, great hopes and new ideas, they are heavily influenced by UK’s 70s vibe, to which they add grooves delivered with a strong and heavy hand. A few drops of modernism and symbolism extracted from the indie subculture, with a hot avant-garde aftertaste complete the final touches that represent The Kryptonite Sparks.
Their live act is vivid, punchy and quickly engages the audience.
Careful, it may contain traces of pop!
Since their opening concert in December 2014, at the Jazz&Blues Club, in Tg-Mures, Romania, the indie folk band has brought a new, distinctive sound to the local musical scene.
The playful rhythm patterns, Csaba Fehér's bluesy vocals and his well-pitched falsettos, along with a smooth blend of bluegrass acoustics and electric guitar effects mirror influences from bands like Local Natives, Bon Iver or The Paper Kites.
"We're probably called MOONFELLAS because... sometimes it feels good to rise above the Earth a little bit... and just look at your life as if you were living on the Moon."
Since 2010 the musical cult, called Artischoque, is revolving around finding out the revelation of the groove, through soul, funk, jazzy hip hop and discobeats.
The seven musicians deliver songs with such thrilling energy and refined complexity, that keeping still throughout their performance is not an option!
Whether it's aout taking a stroll down a Balkanbeat lane, or through the steep slopes of Dubstep - the spontaneous character of a jam session is typical to the band.
In 2016, they released their first EP, named Circling - download HERE or stream HERE. At the moment Artischoque can still be considered an insider tip, but the musical demolition commander is moving at a tremendous rate.
The band Koszika & The HotShots was formed in 2011 around artist Koszika, and has since continued to color up the Transylvanian music pallet. Under the sign of multiculturalism and interculturality, they play in at least 4 languages, mix bossa nova genres from Brazil with Hungarian folklore, reggae music or swing, all sprinkled with jazzy chords and funky rhythms.
The band released their first independent music video in 2016, written and directed by the band's vocalist and are currently preparing their first music album with jazz, hip-hop, and reggae influences.
Sex, Drugs and Rock n'Roll ... all you need for a onenightstand!
That's the outrageous message, that the band tries to bring to the local music scene. Founded in 2012, in Sibiu, Romania, Onenightstand is a high voltage rock n' roll band, blending classic rock, punk energy and bluesy riffs and feel, key ingridients for their sonic mark. The first music releases were back in 2012, followed by an extended and intensive line of live appearances. In early 2017, Onenightstand released their new single, called "Dirty Secret".
Palma Hills are a young, four piece rock band, from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Musically influenced by genres such as Indie, Blues Rock and Garage, also inspired by the 60’s and 70’s Rock n roll, the band began experimenting in 2012. After the first two years, they were already releasing their first EP, called "Private Section".
From there on, Palma Hills (formerly known as Face Today) went on their first tour, they played at festivals all over Romania and Hungary (Electric Castle, Untold, BelFeszt, Sziget Festival, Focus Festival - just to name a few), they released their second EP, called We're "On The Way, There's No Worry", and dropped the first single "Undone" of it's upcoming debut album.
In January, 2017 Palma Hills released their debut album "Beyond The Hills", recorded in Budapest, at Origo Studio.
When you arrive, you’ll need to buy your ticket at the registration office – it’ll be clearly marked at the entrance to the field – we’ll then provide you with festival wristbands. You can arrive from midday on Friday 25th and we’re hoping to be cleared out by noon on Sunday 27th august.
You’ll be able to pitch your tent in one of the camping spots, surrounding the fortified church. The festival’s camping spaces are ample, there’s sufficient room for us all to be comfortable! Campers and vans are also welcome. There’ll also be access to toilets and water for washing.
Family activities at the festival will include: bedtime campfire, kid's painting group, kid's playground, and a sports field. There’s ample space for you to make your own fun too – feel free to bring a frisbee, ball or badminton set!
Dogs are also invited at our festival, as they are a very important part of the family.
FOOD & DRINKS
We’re excited to be working alongside our friends at NOD Pub again this year – they’ll be providing a quality range of beverages.
We will of course be hosting our traditional free breakfasts; lunch and evening food options provided by local food providers will be available throughout the weekend, offering tasty treats suitable for all, at reasonable prices.
We’ve set aside the field next to the festivalsite for free parking, how nice are we?! You won’t be able to take your car beyond the car-park, but you can do as many trips carrying tents etc as you need – the car-park will be accessible at all times.
Holzstock Festival was born out of desire to foster and connect communities far and wide with a positive vibe, good food and drinks and, of course, top class fantastic music. With that in mind, the quantity of tickets available has been intentionally capped to welcome an atmosphere that is really relaxed and friendly.
